Karl Robert Kranemann

Karl Robert Kranemann (born May 7, 1967 in Aachen ) is a German lawyer , business graduate and circumnavigator.

School education and study

After attending school and graduating from high school in Istanbul (German Embassy School), Aachen ( Domsingschule Aachen , Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium ) and Bath (Downside School, UK), Kranemann did his military service with the Mountain Infantry Battalion 233 in Mittenwald. He completed a double degree in business administration (graduated in 1992: Diplom-Kaufmann) and law (graduated in 1993: first state examination ) in Innsbruck, Bonn, Barcelona and Würzburg. After his legal traineeship with stations in Cologne, Berlin and London and the second state examination , he completed postgraduate studies in London in 1996 with a Master of Laws (LL.M). The doctorate to Dr. jur. took place in 1999 at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Kranemann was admitted to the bar in 1996 and initially worked in a national law firm specializing in insolvency law in Cologne, most recently as a partner. Since 1998 he has been appointed as bankruptcy administrator by a number of courts in North Rhine-Westphalia and works as a restructuring advisor and certified restructuring manager. Since 1999 he has also been a specialist lawyer for insolvency law . In 2000 he founded his own law firm with offices in Cologne and Gütersloh. Forensically, he is active up to the European Court of Justice (ECJ). In addition, he was engaged as a speaker at various specialist organizers and associations on insolvency and European law topics, on which he also published.

water sports

Kranemann has been active in water sports since his youth, initially in windsurfing . His invention of a mast- boom connection with a quick-release fastener, which was protected in 1995, has significantly improved the rigging of windsurfing boards and has been standard ever since.

Later, Kranemann also turned to deep sea sailing and, together with his wife Birgit Mester, undertook a circumnavigation on a sailing catamaran , which in 2017 was awarded the world circumnavigation prize by the Trans-Ocean Association for the Promotion of Deep Sea Sailing e. V. was awarded.
