Angelo Vanzin

Angelo Vanzin (born February 8, 1932 in Lierna ) is a former Italian rower .

Angelo Vanzin was employed by Moto Guzzi in Mandello del Lario ; so he was able to do the sport of rowing in the in-house sports club of Moto Guzzi .

A boat from this sports club was able to qualify for the European Rowing Championships in Bled in 1956 ; Franco Trincavelli , Angelo Vanzin, Romano Sgheiz , Alberto Winkler and helmsman Ivo Stefanoni took third place in the four with helmsman behind the boats from Finland and the Soviet Union.

At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956, the five Italians won the final three seconds ahead of the Swedes and the Finnish European champions; the boat from the Soviet Union had already been eliminated in the semifinals.

In 1957, the entire four-man moved to eighth , with Attilio Cantoni , Giovanni Zucchi , Abbondio Mercelli and Ellero Borgnolo . At the European Championships in Duisburg , the Italian eighth won ahead of the boats from the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia.
