Dumitru Răducanu (born July 19, 1967 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian helmsman in rowing .

Athletic career

The 1.65 m tall Dumitru Răducanu started at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles together with Vasile Tomoiagă and Dimitrie Popescu in two with helmsman and won the silver medal behind the Italian brothers Carmine and Giuseppe Abbagnale and their helmsman Giuseppe Di Capua . The Italians also won ahead of the Romanians at the 1985 World Championships .

1991 Răducanu returned to the international rowing sport. In the 1991 he took fourth place in two with helmsman and eighth . In the four with helmsman he won the silver medal behind the German four with Dănuț Dobre , Dragoș Neagu , Valentin Robu and Ioan Șnep . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Dumitru Răducanu competed in two boat classes. On August 1, Iulică Ruican , Viorel Talapan , Dimitrie Popescu, Nicolae Țaga and helmsman Dumitru Răducanu won in a four, on August 2, Popescu, Țaga and Răducanu won bronze in a two behind the British and the Italians. After a fifth place in eighth at the 1995 World Championships , Răducanu steered the two with Nicolae Țaga and Dumitru Răducanu to second place behind the French at the 1996 World Championships .

At the World Championships in 1998 Dumitru Răducanu entered two boat classes again, after a ninth place in the four with helmsman he won the bronze medal with the eighth. He also drove both boats at the 1999 World Championships , the bronze medal with the four was followed by fourth place in eight. At the end of his career, Dumitru Răducanu finished eighth in sixth place at the 2000 Olympic Games .
