Jürgen Litz

Jürgen Litz (born October 8, 1938 in Essen ) is a former German rower . He won Olympic gold in Rome in 1960.

Career

In 1959 the Düsseldorf four-man with Klaus Wegner , Gerd Cintl , Horst Effertz , Claus Heß and helmsman Michael Obst became European champions. At the German rowing championships in 1960, the Düsseldorf coach Theo Cohnen put together a figure eight that was supposed to challenge the boat from the Ratzeburg rowing club , which was trained by Karl Adam . The Düsseldorf eighth in the line-up Klaus Wegner, Jürgen Litz, Manfred Uellner, Gerd Cintl, Horst Effertz, Dr. Claus Heß, Klaus Riekemann , Günter Schroers and helmsman Michael Obst came second in the German championship behind the Ratzeburger boat, which was to win gold at the Olympic Games in Rome.

The four-man drove to the regattas on Lake Albano for RC Germania . In the final, the boat was able to assert itself against the French boat.

Litz started for the rowing club Germania Düsseldorf in 1904 .
