Egbert Hirschfelder (born July 13, 1942 in Berlin ) is a former German rower . He was twice a member of the German Olympic team. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 he won gold in a four-man with helmsman together with his teammates at the time Peter Neusel , Bernhard Britting , Joachim Werner , and helmsman Jürgen Oelke (all of the Berlin rowing club ). The team was trained at that time by Walter Volle , who had also won gold in a four-man with helmsman as a rower at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin . Egbert Hirschfelder also won a gold medal at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico , but this time in eighth place and for the Ratzeburg rowing club . This Germany eight was trained by Karl Adam and Hans Lenk at the time .

The team of the Germany eight from 1968 carried the Olympic flag into the stadium for the opening of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . Egbert Hirschfelder hoisted them.

For his sporting success he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on November 27, 1968 .
