Dirk Schreyer (born July 28, 1944 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) is a former German rower . In 1968 he became Olympic champion in eighth place .

Life

The rower from the Ratzeburg rowing club belonged to the eighth trained by Karl Adam in the Ratzeburg rowing academy from 1965 to 1968 , and from 1966 the press referred to him as the eighth in Germany . Schreyer came into the boat in 1965, in which five rowers were still sitting, who had won the Olympic silver medal the year before, and took second position in the bow of the boat. Schreyer is a member of the Lauenburg Rowing Society, an honorary member of the Ratzeburg Rowing Club and a member of the Der Hamburger and Germania Rowing Club. In addition to being awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf , the highest German sports award with medal rank, he was awarded the golden badge of honor by the German Rowing Association in 2009. Dirk Schreyer, who learned to row in the rowing society Lauenburg, was awarded the first "Rufer" for this achievement by the city after the Olympic victory.
