Harold Tower

Harold "Doc" William Tower (born July 17, 1911 in Lodi , California , † August 12, 1994 in San Diego ) was an American rower .

The 1.88 m tall Harold Tower studied at the University of California, Berkeley . In 1932, the eighth of the Golden Bears , the sports team at the University of Berkeley, won the championships of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association and also qualified for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Tower rowed in second position of the boat, which won in the run-up to the Olympic regatta by four seconds ahead of the boat from Canada. In the final, the Italian eighth, who was two tenths of a second behind the Californian boat at the finish, led the Canadians bronze.

After completing his studies, Tower worked as an optician.
