The Laurie Point is the eastern headland of a small island on the south coast of the western end of South Georgia . It marks the southern limit of the entrance to Johan Harbor .

The South Georgia Survey mapped the headland between 1956 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after the British biologist Alec Hibbard Laurie (1907-1987), a member of the scientific staff at the Grytviken Maritime Research Station as part of the 1930 Discovery Investigations until 1931, who also worked on the research vessels RRS William Scoresby (1929-1930) and on the RRS Discovery II (1930).
