Patrick Turner

Patrick "Pat" Turner (born March 24, 1961 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian rower .

Turner finished sixth with the four without a helmsman at the 1979 World Junior Championships. In 1980 and 1981 Turner rowed in the lightweight four without a helmsman and finished seventh at the 1980 World Championships and third at the 1981 World Championships . Rob Gibson , Timothy Turner , James Relle and Patrick Turner from the lightweight foursome from 1981 rowed at the 1983 World Championships together with Stephen Beatty , Dean Crawford , Grant Main , Kevin Neufeld and helmsman Brian McMahon in the Canadian eighth , who finished eighth.

In 1984 the Canadian eight competed with Blair Horn , Dean Crawford, Michael Evans , Paul Steele , Grant Main, Mark Evans , Kevin Neufeld, Patrick Turner and Brian McMahon. At the 1984 Olympic Games , the Canadians finished second behind the New Zealanders in the first run and qualified for the final with a second place behind the Australians in the hope run . In the final, the Canadians won with four tenths of a second ahead of the US eighth, while the Australians won the bronze medal two seconds behind the New Zealanders.

At the 1986 World Championships in Nottingham , Patrick Turner, Paul Steele, Kevin Neufeld and Grant Main finished fourth after the four Canadians had won the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh four weeks earlier . In 1987 the four rowers returned to the Canadian eight and finished fifth at the World Championships in Copenhagen .
