Axel from warriors
Axel von Criegern (* 1939 in Berlin ) is a German art historian , painter and art didactician.
Life
Axel von Criegern studied from 1959 to 1965 at the Stuttgart Art Academy under Rudolf Daudert (1903–1988), Christoff Schellenberger and Gunter Böhmer and at the Technical University of Stuttgart, art history and politics. From 1965 to 1970 he completed his studies in art history, archeology and political science at the University of Tübingen . He completed this with the dissertation Iconographic Studies on the Happy Societies Jan Steens under the doctoral supervisor Günter Bandmann . Von Criegern divides his professional life into firstly “the pre-Steen period”, second the “scientific and didactic Steen period” and thirdly the “scientific and artistic Steen period”. Since 1972 von Criegern has held professorships in Reutlingen , Valparaiso (USA) and Karlsruhe and from 1989 to 2004 at the University of Giessen . Von Criegern wrote numerous publications on art education. Since 1972 von Criegern has been a member of the Künstlerbund Tübingen .
