Virgil Jacomini

Virgil Victor Jacomini (born May 30, 1899 in Washington, DC , † October 4, 1984 in Houston ) was an American rower .

Jacomini belonged 1920 as bowman for eight of the United States Naval Academy at. This figure eight represented the United States at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . The eighth won in the preliminary round with a lead of sixteen seconds against the Belgian team, in the semi-finals the Americans prevailed against the French crew with eighteen seconds. With a narrow margin of 0.8 seconds, the crew won the final ahead of the British eighth.

Jacomini graduated from the Academy in 1923. Since the Navy reduced its staffing levels after the First World War, it offered the graduates of the Academy to leave the Navy with the degree. Jacomini then worked as an engineer.
