The Kirchenlamitz Castle was official castle and later the seat of the district court in Kirchenlamitz in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel .

history

The castle from the 16./17. In the 19th century, like Epprechtstein Castle, it was the seat of a bailiff in the Sechsämterland of the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth . The castle was burned down in 1553 during the Second Margrave War . Johann Theodor Benjamin Helfrecht described the complex as a moated castle in 1795 . From 1812, the castle was the seat of an older Bavarian regional court that existed until 1879 , then a district court until 1959 . The building was renovated from 2008 to 2013.

Building description

The castle and the adjacent servants' house as well as the former prison are under monument protection :

  • Former castle (Schlossstrasse 10): simple three-storey solid construction, hipped roof with bat dormers, 16./17. Century, basement house, single storey, with chunks of masonry and hipped roof (attached to No. 12)
  • Former servants' house near the castle (Schlossstrasse 12): two-storey hipped roof building, solid and plastered, in the core probably 17th century, the attached cellar house belongs to house number 10
  • Former prison (Schlossstrasse 9): two-storey hipped roof building, solid and plastered, west facade clad with slate, mid-19th century
