Sophienreuth Palace is a baroque palace complex in Sophienreuth in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains .

The hamlet of Sophienreuth, part of the town of Schönwald on the edge of the Rehau Forest , was created in 1777 as a planned palace area. The builder was the Schönwalder manor owner Wilhelm von Schmidt, chamberlain of the Margrave of Bayreuth . In addition to the main building, the so-called Kirchallee with linden trees as part of the former baroque garden and several auxiliary buildings, which were structurally changed around 1873, are listed as a historical monument . The main building was also structurally changed in 1872 under Chamberlain von Arnim. After a fire in 1919, it was rebuilt with extensions.

The owners changed often, including a Herr von Paschwitz , a Freiherr von Eichthal , a Count von Berchem , the Saxon chamberlain Arno Achim von Arnim and today the baron von Borch family . A boundary stone of the von Eichthal, one of those that were set in consecutive numbering as a boundary marker for the property after 1841, stands in front of the Schönwalder School. At the castle pond there is a memorial cross for Hans Georg von Arnim, who died in World War I.
