Michael Brix

Michael Brix (born August 27, 1941 in Flensburg ) is a German art historian and university professor.

Life

Brix studied art history, archeology and folklore in Kiel , Munich and Vienna . He was a student of Hans Tintelnot in Kiel. In 1973 he did his dissertation in Kiel on the mourning scaffolding for the Habsburgs in Vienna .

In the series Die Kunstdenkmäler von Bayern , Brix and Karl-Ludwig Lippert created the inventory volume on the former district of Rehau and the town of Selb , which is now considered standard literature. Other publications deal, among other things, with the baroque gardens of André Le Nôtres , the photographer Walker Evans and in particular the preservation of monuments.
