The Burgstein castle ruins are the remains of a low castle between Hendel- and Kaiserhammer in the Wunsiedel district in the Fichtelgebirge .
The castle was built around a rocky plateau around 1200 as a small ministerial seat , probably for the von Notthracht family . Johann Theodor Benjamin Helfrecht reported about her.
