Malcolm Howard

Malcolm Howard (born February 7, 1983 in Victoria , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian rower who won the 2008 Olympic gold in eighth .

Howard competed three times at the Junior World Championships from 1999 to 2001 , and in 2001 he won a bronze medal in the four-man category. In 2003 he won the U23 world regatta with the Canadian eighth and in 2004 he entered the world championships in a four-man with helmsman and received a silver medal. In 2005 he started together with Chris Jarvis in two without a helmsman and took fourth place at the world championships . In 2006 Kevin Light joined him, who won the bronze medal with him at the World Championships in Eton. In 2007 they both moved to eighth, who won the World Cup regattas in Linz and Lucerne and also won the title at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich. In 2008, the eighth won again in Lucerne. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Canadian eighth won gold in the line-up of Andrew Byrnes , Kyle Hamilton , Malcolm Howard, Adam Kreek , Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge , Dominic Seiterle , Jake Wetzel and helmsman Brian Price . In 2009, the Canadian eighth took second place behind the Germany eighth at the World Cup in Lucerne and at the World Championships in Poznan . In 2010 Malcolm Howard switched to the single and finished with 6th place in Munich and 4th place in Lucerne in the top places in the World Cup. At the 2010 World Rowing Championships , Howard only reached the C-final and finished 17th. After a fifth place in the single at the 2011 World Cup in Lucerne, he moved back to eighth for the World Championships in Bled , with which he finished third . At the Olympic rowing regatta on Dorney Lake in 2012 , the Canadian eighth won silver behind the German boat.
