James Blair (rower)

James "Jim" Howard Blair (born October 28, 1909 in Placerville , California , † May 23, 1992 ibid) was an American rower .

The 1.83 m tall Blair was in 1932 after helmsman Norris Graham the smallest and lightest member of the eighth of the Golden Bears , the sports team of the University of California, Berkeley . The eighth won the championships of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association and also qualified for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the run-up to the Olympic regatta, the eighth won by four seconds ahead of the boat from Canada. In the final, the Italian eighth, who was two tenths of a second behind the Californian boat at the finish, led the Canadians bronze.

After graduating, Blair went into the packaging industry like batsman Edwin Salisbury .
