August Rübesamen (born January 28, 1823 in Frauenhof, Greifenhagen district , † December 26, 1893 in Möhringen , Randow district ) was a German Protestant clergyman. He held leading positions in the church province of Pomerania and in the Evangelical Church of the older provinces of Prussia as a whole.

He was born the son of a forester. From 1835 he attended the Marienstiftsgymnasium in Stettin . During this time, as a Primaner, he served as a one year old in the artillery in the Prussian army . He then studied at the University of Halle and at the University of Greifswald .

He began his activity as a Protestant clergyman in 1851 as a deacon in Gingst on Rügen. In 1861 he became superintendent in Franzburg . Here he founded the Franzburg orphanage. In 1869 he finally moved to Möhringen near Stettin as a pastor .

From 1878, the Provincial Synod of the Pomeranian Church Province elected him six times as its President . In 1879 the general synod of the Evangelical Church in the older provinces of Prussia elected him as its vice-president. In 1893 he was elected to the agenda commission by the general synod, in which he worked on the draft for the main divine service with confession and communion. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Greifswald .

He died on Boxing Day 1893 after still preaching on Boxing Day. He left a widow and four sons.
