Howard Thayer Kingsbury, Jr. (born September 11, 1904 in New York City , New York , United States , † October 27, 1991 in Yarmouthport , Massachusetts , United States) was an American rower , Olympic champion and educator .

Life

Howard Kingsbury rowed for the Yale Bulldogs . At the age of 20, he won the gold medal in rowing with the US team at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris ( eighth ). After graduating in 1926, Kingsbury devoted some time to civil engineering , but left the company shortly after to study at the University of Oxford . He then became an educator and died in 1991 at the age of 87.
