Kigekijin no ishibumi

Kigekijin no ishibumi ( Japanese 喜劇人の碑 , such as: stone monument for comedians ) is a stone monument at the Temple Sensoji in the district Asakusa in Tokyo . Asakusa was once considered the Japanese Broadway, which produced many comedians, Yose actors and actors of the comic trade. The memorial stone was erected in 1982 in memory of outstanding comedians. The memorial stone goes back to the initiative of Kon Ōmura, the 8th chairman of the Japanese Comedy Actors Association ( 日本 喜劇 人 協会 Nihon kigekijin kyōkai ). The name, the date of death and the age of the comedian are engraved.
