Hisaya Morishige ( Japanese 森繁久彌 ; born 4. May 1913 in Hirakata ( Osaka Prefecture ); died 10. November 2009 ) was a Japanese comedian, singer and actor.

life and work

Hisaya Morishige attended Waseda University . At the beginning of his career he appeared on stage, in variety shows and on the radio. In films, he often played the unreliable womanizer. In the stage version of the musical " The Fiddler on the Roof " he plays the fiddler 900 times. Morishige was also a popular singer with his "Morishige sound".

Morishige won the Blue Ribbon Award in 1956 in the Best Actor category. In 1975 he was awarded the Kikuchi Kan Prize . In 1984 he was honored as a person with special cultural merits , in 1991 he was awarded the Order of Culture .
