Bryan Volpenhein

Bryan Daniel Volpenhein (born August 18, 1976 in Cincinnati ) is a former American rower who was Olympic champion in eighth and three-time world champion.

The 1.91 m tall Bryan Volpenhein moved up to the US eighth in 1998 and won the title at the 1998 and 1999 World Rowing Championships with this boat . At the 2000 Olympic Games , the US eight could not continue his winning streak, but only achieved fifth place. Over the next few years, the US eight worked its way back to the top of the world year after year. A fourth place at the World Rowing Championships in 2001 was followed by the bronze medal in 2002 and silver in 2003 . At the 2004 Olympic regatta, the US eight won the gold medal, the first gold medal for the US eight since 1964 .

At the 2005 World Rowing Championships , Volpenhein competed in two boat classes, he won the title with eighth and finished fifth in the four without a helmsman . After a break in 2006, Volpenhein rowed the uncontrolled foursome into eighth place at the 2007 World Rowing Championships . At the 2008 Olympic Games , Volpenhein was once again in the US eighth and won the bronze medal. After winning two Olympic medals and five world championship medals, Volpenhein ended his rowing career in 2008.
