Louis Attrill

Louis Mark Attrill (born March 5, 1975 in Newport , Isle of Wight ) is a retired British rower .

Attrill was active as a teenager in various sports such as cricket, rugby union and kickboxing, but then switched to rowing at Imperial College London . He won the Henley Royal Regatta for university teams and later the Grand Challenge Cup with the eighth in his first year of study .

Internationally, he took part in the U23 World Championships in 1995 and finished ninth with the British eighth, the following year he won with the four without a helmsman . From 1997 he was in the British eighth in the adult class. After a fourth place at the 1997 World Rowing Championships and a seventh place in 1998 , the young British eighth won the silver medal behind the defending champion from the USA at the 1999 World Championships . In 2000, the Croatians won the World Cup kick off, ahead of the British. The other two World Cup regattas were won by the British, who also secured the gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney ahead of the Australian hosts and the Croatians. At the 2001 World Championships Attrill finished fifth with the British eighth.
