Gilchrist Stanley Maclagan (born October 5, 1879 in London , † April 25, 1915 in Pilckem near Ypres , Belgium ) was a British rower and Olympic champion in eighth .

Gilchrist Maclagan was a member of the Leander Club . He received his education at Eton and then at Magdalen College , Oxford. From 1899 to 1902 he took part in the Boat Race four times for Oxford as a helmsman ; in 1901 the boat he steered won. From 1899 to 1908 he competed ten times with the eighth of the Leander Club at the Henley Royal Regatta and won six times; with these six wins he is the record winner in eighth. At the 1908 Olympic regatta, which was also held in Henley , Maclagan won the final against the Belgian large boat with the eighth of the Leander Club.

During the First World War he was a lieutenant in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment , he died in the Second Battle of Flanders .
