Duncan Gregg
Duncan Smith Gregg (born February 28, 1910 in Lamar , Colorado , † February 14, 1989 in Berkeley , California ) was an American rower .
Until his graduation in 1934, Gregg was 1.93 m tall and was a member of the eighth of the Golden Bears , the sports team at the University of California, Berkeley . The eighth won the 1932 and 1934 championships of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association and also qualified for the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the run-up to the Olympic regatta, the eighth won by four seconds ahead of the boat from Canada. In the final, the Italian eighth, who was two tenths of a second behind the Californian boat at the finish, led the Canadians bronze.
Gregg studied civil engineering, later he was a manager at an aluminum company. Two of his sons and a granddaughter later also rowed for the Golden Bears in national championships.
