Edgar Burgess

Edgar Richard Burgess (born September 23, 1891 in Kensington , Great Britain , † April 23, 1952 in Tangier ) was a British rower .

Burgess attended Eton College and then studied at Magdalen College of Oxford University . At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912, he and the crew of the Leander Club won the competition in the eighth place in front of the boat of New College in Oxford. In 1913 he won the Boat Race with the eighth of Oxford University , with both rowers from Magdalene College and rowers from New College being represented in the winning team from Oxford.

Burgess later worked for the Sudan Political Service . After his retirement he stayed in Africa and lived in Tangier.
