Philip Henry

Philip "Phil" Henry (born April 16, 1971 ) is a former American rower who was twice world champion.

The only 1.82 m tall Philip Henry took part in the 1989 US eighth in the Junior World Championships and finished fifth. In 1997 the graduate of the University of Washington qualified for the American national team. At the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , he won the title with the US eight. In the following year, Henry formed a pair with Kurt Borcherding and helmsman Nicholas Anderson , who won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Cologne . At the 1999 World Championships in St. Catharines, Canada, James Neil and Philip Henry rowed to the title with helmsman Anderson. Neil, Henry and Anderson were also among the American eighth, who won the title at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. In the 2000 Olympic season, Philip Henry rowed eighth in the American rowing World Cup in Lucerne and took third place. Henry was not part of the Olympic squad, but was available as a substitute rower.
