Bernd Lindner (rowing coach)

Bernd Lindner (born April 24, 1956 in Wolmirstedt ) is a German rowing trainer and former rower.

Life

As an active athlete, the 1.97 meter tall Lindner was junior world champion in 1973 in two with helmsman and in 1974 in four with helmsman and in 1977 world champion in eight . In 1977 he was with the rowing community SC Berlin-Grünau / ASK Vorwärts Rostock / SC Magdeburg also GDR champion in the eighth. Lindner studied at the German University of Physical Culture in Leipzig , where he graduated in 1984. The title of his diploma thesis was "Investigations into the effect of rowing ergometer training on the starting behavior of selected top level cadres".

As a coach, athletes supervised by him celebrated numerous successes from 1988 on, including world championships and Olympic victories. His protégés included Anne Becker , Andreas Hajek , Thomas Lange , Julia Lier , Michaela Schmidt , Christian Schreiber , and Jana Thieme . In addition to his work as a national coach, he works for the HRV "Böllberg / Nelson" club at SV Halle .
