Wolfgang Klapheck

Wolfgang Klapheck (born July 9, 1966 in Dorsten ) is a former German rower who was world champion with the eighth in 1991 .

Athletic career

At the U23 World Championships in 1986, Klapheck won the silver medal with the German eighth, in 1987 he won the four with a helmsman in the line-up of Mark Mauerwerk , Matthias Mellinghaus , Klapheck, Dirk Balster and helmsman Martin Ruppel . In the same line-up, this foursome took seventh place at the 1987 World Championships in the adult class. At the 1988 Summer Olympics , a four-man with helmsman Andreas Lütkefels , Christoph Korte , Wolfgang Klapheck, Roland Baar and helmsman Martin Ruppel competed and took seventh place. In 1989 Lütkefels, Korte and Klapheck competed with batsman Armin Eichholz and helmsman Guido Groß at the World Championships in Bled and achieved ninth place.

At the 1990 World Championships in Tasmania , the boat from the GDR won in a four with a helmsman, followed by the boat from the Federal Republic with Wolfgang Klapheck, Stefan Scholz , Ansgar Wessling , Volker Zimmermann and helmsman Thomas Alt . In 1991 Wolfgang Klapheck moved up to eighth place in Germany and won the title at the World Championships in Vienna .
