Stefan Scholz

Stefan Scholz (born September 23, 1964 in Berlin ) is a former German rower who was world champion with the eighth in 1993 .

Athletic career

From 1980 to 1982, Scholz competed three times with the German eighth at the Junior World Championships and finished fifth, third and first place. In 1983 he won the title at the U23 World Championships with the eighth and in 1984 with the four with helmsman . At the 1985 World Championships , the two-meter man took seventh place with the four-man with a helmsman, and in 1987 he rowed sixth with the eighth.

At the 1990 World Championships in Tasmania , the boat from the GDR won in a four-man with a helmsman in front of the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany with Wolfgang Klapheck , Stefan Scholz, Ansgar Wessling , Volker Zimmermann and helmsman Thomas Alt . In 1991 Scholz rowed with Markus Bräuer , Andreas Lütkefels and Markus Vogt in a four-wheeler without a helmsman . At the World Championships in Vienna , this foursome won the bronze medal behind the Australians and the US boat.

In 1993 and 1994, Stefan Scholz rowed in the Germany eighth and won the 1993 World Championships in Racice , at the 1994 World Championships the Germany eighth finished fourth. With the four-man without a helmsman, Scholz reached sixth place at the 1995 World Championships , and the four-man came ninth at the 1996 Olympic Games .

Stefan Scholz rowed for the Dortmund rowing club Hansa from 1898 .
