Hannes Ocik (born June 8, 1991 in Rostock ) is a German rower and police master of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state police.

Athletic career

The 1.91 m tall Ocik started rowing in 2006 and started for the Schwerin rowing company . He achieved his first international success at the Junior World Championships in 2009 when he was world champion with eighth place . At the U23 World Championships in 2010 he took second place in a four-man with a helmsman , in 2011 he took first place in a four-man without a helmsman in the world's best age group and in 2012 third place in a two-man without a helmsman . In 2013, Ocik competed internationally for the first time in Germany eighth and won gold at the 2013 European Championships and silver behind the British eighth at the World Championships . After a year of illness-related break from international regattas, Ocik returned to the Germany eighth in 2015 as a batsman , at the European championships the German eighth won ahead of the British. As in the previous two years, the British won the World Championships ahead of the Germans. At the start of the 2016 Olympic season, the Germany eighth managed a victory at the European Championships , in front of a home crowd in Brandenburg an der Havel, the German boat won ahead of the Russians and the British. In the final of the 2016 Olympic Games , the finish line was like at the World Championships 2013 to 2015, behind the British, the rowers of the Germany eight received the silver medal.

In May 2017, the Germany eight with Ocik won the gold medal at the 2017 European Championships . After victories at the World Cup in Poznan and Lucerne, the Germany eighth also remained unbeaten at the 2017 World Championships and won in front of the boats from the United States and Italy. In 2018, the Germany eight won all three regattas in the World Cup with the same line-up as in 2017. At the European Championships in Glasgow , the eighth won ahead of the Dutch and the Romanians. A month and a half later, the eighth also won the title at the World Championships in Plovdiv, ahead of the Australians and the British. At the beginning of the 2019 season, the Germany eight won the 2019 European Championships in Lucerne, ahead of the British and the Dutch. At the world championships, the Germans won ahead of the Dutch and the British.

For his sporting achievements, Ocik was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Gauck on November 1, 2016 .

Ocik has been a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Police's sports promotion group since 2012 . After completing his training in 2017, he is chief of police and a member of a police hundred.

On December 8, 2017, Ocik received the Crew of the Year award together with Johannes Weidenfeld, Felix Wimberger, Maximilian Planer, Torben Johannesen, Jakob Schneider, Malte Jakschik, Richard Schmidt and helmsman Martin Sauer . This is awarded annually by the world rowing association FISA and went to a German rowing team for the first time since its introduction.
