Peter Collins (rower)

Atwood Peter "Porter" Collins (born June 27, 1975 in New York City ) is a former American rower and three-time world champion.

The 1.96 m tall Peter Collins won the bronze medal in the eighth place at the 1993 Junior World Championships . At the 1995 World Championships he won his first international medal in the adult class with gold in a four-man with helmsman . In 1996 he moved to the US eighth and finished fifth at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. After a year without international championship participation, Collins returned to the American eighth in 1998, which was moved to four positions after the 1997 world championship title. At the 1998 World Championships , Collins won the title with the eighth, which was defended in 1999 with the same crew. With a newcomer, David Simon for Michael Wherley , and eight world champions from 1998 and 1999, the US boat reached the final at the 2000 Olympic Games via the hope race, but only finished fifth there. Peter Collins then ended his competitive sports career.
