Brett Hollister

Brett James Hollister (born May 19, 1966 in Rotorua ) is a former New Zealand helmsman in rowing .

The 1.61 m tall Brett Hollister from the Waikato Rowing Club in Hamilton drove the New Zealand four-man with helmsman at the 1983 World Rowing Championships in Duisburg . Conrad Robertson , Gregory Johnston , Keith Trask , Leslie O'Connell and Brett Hollister won the title in front of the boats from the GDR and from the USSR. The boats from the GDR and the USSR did not compete at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of the Olympic boycott . However, the New Zealand boat was also newly manned except for the helmsman. Kevin Lawton , Donald Symon , Barrie Mabbott , Ross Tong and Hollister finished third behind the boats from the United Kingdom and the United States in the preliminary run. In the hope race, the New Zealanders won ahead of the US boat and the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany. In the final, the same run-in as in the preliminaries resulted in the top places, the British won ahead of the team from the host country and the New Zealanders. In 1985, Hollister went again to the World Championships in Hazewinkel, where he finished fourth with the New Zealand eighth .

Brett Hollister was Managing Director of North Harbor Rugby Union from 2006 to 2017, responsible for 10,000 rugby union players.
