Andreas Schulz (rower)

Andreas Schulz (born October 5, 1951 in Freital ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1974 he became world champion in the four-man team .

Andreas Schulz was a trained locksmith. He trained at SC Einheit Dresden under Hans Eckstein . In 1974, together with Ullrich Dießner , Walter Dießner , Rüdiger Kunze and helmsman Wolfgang Groß, he won the world championship in a four-man with helmsman. In 1975 the boat won the World Championship silver behind the four from the Soviet Union. Even at the 1976 Olympic Games, the Dresden foursome was defeated by boat from the Soviet Union, but Johannes Thomas helmsman was now for Wolfgang Groß.

Andreas Schulz was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1974 and 1976 .
