Alois Striny

Alois Striny (born November 19, 1888 in Großpetersdorf , † October 11, 1955 in Graz ) was an Austrian businessman and politician ( SPÖ ). Striny was married and from 1927 to 1934 a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Striny was born as the son of the hat maker Franz Striny from Großpetersdorf. He attended elementary school and then switched to Realschule / Untermittelschule in Vienna. Striny then graduated from the hotel trade school in Vienna and subsequently worked as a waiter. From 1923 Striny worked as a businessman, between 1934 and 1945 he worked as an insurance agent. Striny was involved in the Social Democratic Labor Party and from 1924 was party and trade union secretary in the Oberwart district. He was elected district party chairman in 1929 and was also a member of the state party executive. Between 1930 and 1934 Striny held the office of mayor and from May 20, 1927 to February 12, 1934 was a member of the Burgenland Landtag. Striny lost his state parliament mandate in 1934 after the suppression of the February fighting and the ban on the Social Democratic Labor Party and was in political custody in the course of the events.
