Ptiliolum schwarzi is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).
features
The beetles reach a body length of 0.7 millimeters. The body is matt brown-black, the wings are brown. The latter have completely rounded shoulder angles and are not excessive in front of them. The basal tapered pronotum is not rounded at the rear angles, but has almost acute-angled rear corners, its sides are curved or constricted in front of it. The antennae are dark, the legs brown-red in color.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is common in northern and central Europe and the Caucasus . The distribution ranges in the north over England, the middle Norway and Sweden to Finland. In the south, the distribution limit runs through France, Italy, Austria and Hungary. the animals live under rotting plant material and on carrion.
