history

The coat of arms was designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick in 2000.

The three-leaved green oak branch with two fruits symbolizes the wooded surroundings of the community, for example the former grand ducal forests south of Garlitz. The four-spoke eight-blade mill wheel is a reference to the Garlitz watermill, which has been documented since 1700.

The coat of arms shows several common features with the district coat of arms of the former district of Ludwigslust . The oak leaves can also be found there. When choosing the colors, Kippnick referred to the colors of the coat of arms of the city of Lübenheen.

The approval for the use of the coat of arms as well as the flag and the municipality colors was given by the decision of the Ministry of the Interior of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on January 25, 2000. The coat of arms was included in the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania under registration number 203.

With the incorporation of Garlitz to Lübenheen on June 13, 2004, the coat of arms lost its official validity.
