Richard Beesly

Richard Beesly (born July 27, 1907 in Barnt Green , Worcestershire , † March 28, 1965 in Ludlow ) was a British rower .

At the Olympic Games in 1928 , a total of six boats took part in the four without a helmsman . The British foursome with John Lander , Michael Warriner , Richard Beesly and Edward Bevan won against the French in the preliminary run. In the quarter-finals, the British won over the German foursome by judges' decision. After a bye in the semifinals, the British defeated the US boat by a second in the final.

Richard Beesly studied at Trinity College of the University of Cambridge . In 1927, 1928 and 1929 he won the Boat Race by boat from Cambridge . In 1932 he began his professional career with Guest, Keen and Nettlefolds . After the Second World War , he was a partner in a company for agricultural and forestry machines and tools. He also ran his own farm on the side; he died after being attacked by a bull on his own farm.
