Viktor Nikolayevich Suslin

Viktor Nikolajewitsch Suslin ( Russian Виктор Николаевич Суслин ; born July 19, 1944 in Leningrad ) is a former Soviet rower who won five international medals from 1966 to 1971.

Athletic career

The international career of the 1.90 great Viktor Suslin began at the 1966 World Championships in Bled . There Suslin won the bronze medal in two without a helmsman together with Boris Fyodorov . In addition, Suslin was in the Soviet eight , who won the silver medal behind the Germany eight . The following year, Suslin rowed eighth to third place behind the boats from Germany and the United States at the European Championships . At the 1968 Olympic Games , the Germany eight won ahead of the Australians, the Soviet eight won bronze with Zigmas Jukna , Antanas Bagdonavičius , Wolodymyr Sterlyk , Juozas Jagelavičius , Vytautas Briedis , Valentin Kravchuk , Alexander Martyshkin , Viktor Suslin and helmsman Juri Lorenzson . Wiktor Suslin is the younger brother of Yuri Suslin , who also rowed at the Olympic Games for the Soviet Union.
