Igor Alexandrovich Rudakov

Igor Alexandrowitsch Rudakow ( Russian Игорь Александрович Рудаков ; born October 8, 1934 in Leningrad ) is a former Soviet rower . The helmsman took part in four Olympic regattas; he won a medal and took fourth place three times.

Athletic career

The standing for Trud Leningrad Rudakow was active at the same time as his club mate Juri Lorenzson . Usually Lorenzson was the helmsman of the Soviet eight , while Rudakow mostly steered the two or four .

At his Olympic premiere in 1960 , Rudakow competed in both a two and a four. An hour and a half after Rudakow had finished fourth with the four, he won the silver medal in the two behind the German boat together with Antanas Bagdonavičius and Zigmas Jukna . Rudakov also won the silver medal at the European Championships in 1961 , this time in a foursome. At the first rowing world championships, which were held in Lucerne in 1962 , Rudakow steered both the two and the four to the bronze medal. At the European Championships in 1963 , the bronze medal in the four followed, the following year he won the silver medal in the two with Leonid Rakowtschik and Nikolai Safronow . At the 1964 Olympic Regatta , the two finished fourth behind the boats from the USA, France and the Netherlands. At the European Championships in 1965 Rakovchik, Safronow and Rudakow won the title.

In the next few years Rudakow remained without an international medal, at the Olympic Games in 1968 he missed the final with the two and did not enter the B final. At the European Championships in 1969 Rudakov appeared with the Soviet eighth and won the bronze medal. Two years later, Rudakow received the bronze medal with the foursome at the European Championships in 1971 . After a fourth place in the four at the Olympic Games in Munich , he won two world championship medals in the 1970s: in 1974 he received silver with the four, and in 1975 silver with the eight.
