The European rowing championships in 1968 were rowing championships on the Berlin-Grünau regatta course in the East Berlin district of Grünau . This edition of the European Rowing Championships was for women only and took place from August 16th to 18th. Twelve countries competed in five boat classes (W1x, W2x, W4x +, W4 +, W8 +), and 39 teams competed against each other. Despite the European name of the event, it was open to any country and was considered an unofficial World Cup, but all participating countries in 1968 were from Europe. The men met in mid-October for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City .
