Micaela Schmidt (born February 25, 1970 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic , who competed for Germany from 1991.

Athletic career

The 1.86 m tall rower from SG Dynamo Potsdam took third place at the GDR championships in 1989 with a double scull . In 1990, now starting for the Potsdamer Ruder-Gesellschaft , she and Ute Wild reached second place in the two-man team without a helmsman at the 1990 GDR championships . With the eighth in the line-up Christiane Harzendorf , Micaela Schmidt, Annegret Strauch , Ute Wild, Heike Winkler , Annette Hohn , Ramona Franz , Ute Wagner and taxwoman Yvonne Illing , she won the last GDR championship title. At the World Championships in Tasmania in 1990 , this eighth finished third behind the boats from Romania and the United States.

After German reunification , Micaela Schmidt rowed in the four-man without a helmsman and in the eighth to second place at the German rowing championships, in 1992 she took third place with the four-man and rowed again to second place with the eighth. In 1993 she won her first championship title after 1990 in eighth place and finished third at the world championships with the German eighth . In 1994 she won two German championship titles with the eighth and with the four-man rowing club of the Saarbrücken rowing club , with three rowers in the Saarbrücken four-man team alongside Stefani Werremeier with Christiane Harzendorf, Ute Wagner and Micaela Schmidt who had rowed in the last GDR eight in 1990 . At the world championships in 1994 in Indianapolis , the German won wife roller . In 1995 Micaela Schmidt won her third German championship title in a row in eighth place, at the 1995 World Championships , the German eighth took fourth place. At the end of her career, Micaela Schmidt finished eighth in eighth place at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta .
