Ana Maria Groza (born June 1, 1976 in Cluj-Napoca , Cluj County ) is a former Romanian athlete .

Career

Groza was initially active for Dinamo Bucharest and later trained at Clubul Sportiv Unirea Alba Iulia . Her specialty was walking 20 km . At the Olympic Games in 2000 she came in 13th, in 2004 29th and in 2008 23rd place. At the 2005 World Championships Groza finished 14th, at the 2009 World Championships she was sixteenth. In 2006 she crossed the finish line as eleventh at the European Championships .

In 2009 she won the Balkan Championships both individually and with the Romanian national team. At the Romanian national championships, she won the 20 km walk in 2009 both indoors and outdoors with her club CS Unirea Alba Iulia. In the individual she was each runner-up.

Ana Maria Groza is 1.70 m tall and her competition weight was 52 kg.

Awards

Groza was voted the best female athlete of the year in the Alba district four times, including in 2008 and 2009 .
