Silvia Stroescu

Silvia Alexandra Stroescu (born May 8, 1985 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

Stroescu did gymnastics for Steaua Bucharest except for a one-year break . In 1999 she competed for the German association TV 08 Baumbach . In 2000 she won the national championship title in team all-round with Steaua and was named club sportswoman of the year after she had become junior European champion on the balance beam and on the ground in Paris , and had won silver in the individual all-around event. At the 2001 World Gymnastics Championships , she won the team all-around with the Romanian team. She also finished 7th on the floor and 11th in the individual all-around. Three years later she won gold again in the team all-round match with the Romanian team at the 2004 Summer Olympics . In the three individual competitions in which Stroescu competed, she could not qualify for the final.

A straight forward flip with two and a half turns was named after her. She is 1.56 m tall and her competition weight was 48 kg.
