Cyprus took part in the Summer Olympics in the Greek capital Athens with 20 athletes, seven women and thirteen men.

Since 1980 it was the seventh participation of Cyprus in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

The shooter Giorgos Akhilleos carried the flag of Cyprus during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
