Claudia Linnhoff-Popien

Claudia Linnhoff-Popien (* 1966 as Claudia Popien in Magdeburg ) holds the Chair for Mobile and Distributed Systems at the Institute for Computer Science at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU).

Career

Linnhoff-Popien graduated from the University of Leipzig with a degree in mathematics with a specialization in computer science in 1989 . This was followed by teaching and research at the Institute for Computer Network and Operating Systems at the Technical University of Magdeburg . 1991 she became a research associate of Otto Spaniol to the chair of computer science IV of the RWTH Aachen , where in 1994 at the Department of Communication Systems with a thesis about "service switching in Distributed Systems" Ph.D.has been. From 1995 to 1997 she held various teaching positions at the University of Essen , in 1997 she was a visiting scientist at the Applied Research Institute of the Washington University in St. Louis and 1998 habilitated they at RWTH Aachen. Immediately afterwards, she accepted the call as associate professor at the LMU Munich. In 2003 she was appointed head of her chair at LMU.

Linnhoff-Popien is the author or editor of 14 books and has co-authored around 70 other journal, book and conference articles. She is a member of over 40 program committees for international workshops and conferences , including a. at International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik (VDE) and Informationstechnische Gesellschaft (ITG) ). She also works as a reviewer for the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Academic Exchange Service .

Her academic interests are shaped by the topics of mobility , distributed systems and ubiquitous computing , internet economics , service mediation and context awareness . In these areas, she also works on various state and federal research projects as well as industry.
