Monica Elena Lăzăruț (born July 13, 1977 in Susenii Bârgăului ) is a former Romanian cross-country skier .

Career

Lăzăruț started internationally for the first time at the Junior World Ski Championships in 1993 in Harrachov and finished 61st place over 5 km classic and 54th place over 15 km freestyle. In the following years she achieved the 62nd place over 5 km classic and the 52nd place over 15 km freestyle at the Junior World Ski Championships in Breitenwang in 1994 , at the Junior World Ski Championships in 1996 in Asiago the 63rd place over 5 km classic and the 41st place over 15 km freestyle and at the Junior World Ski Championships 1997 in Canmore 57th place over 5 km classic and 39th place over 15 km freestyle. Her best place in her first and only Olympic participation in 1998 in Nagano was the 34th place over 30 km freestyle. She made her debut in the World Cup in January 1999 in Nové Město , which she finished classically in 65th place over 10 km. There she reached her best individual placement in the World Cup three days later with 32nd place over 15 km freestyle. At the Winter Universiade 1999 in Štrbské Pleso she ran on the 26th place over 5 km classic, on the 23rd place in the subsequent pursuit and on the eighth place over 15 km freestyle. Her best result at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein was 44th place in the pursuit and 32nd place in the sprint at the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . In December 2000, she completed her 11th and last World Cup race in Santa Caterina Valfurva , which she finished in 59th place over 10 km freestyle. In the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons she took part in races of the Marathon Cup. It was in the 2001/02 season third at the Transjurassienne and thus achieved fifth place in the overall standings. In her last active season in 2002/03 she came third at the Jizera Mountains Run and second at the König-Ludwig-Lauf , Tartu Maraton and Keskinada Loppet , and thus achieved third place in the overall standings.
