Australia took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano with 23 athletes, eight women and 15 men in eight sports part.

Since 1936 it was the 14th participation of an Australian team in the Winter Olympics .

Flag bearer

The short tracker Richard Nizielski carried the flag of Australia during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
