Career

Evans, who started for the Cooma Ski Club , made his international debut and made his international debut as part of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup on December 7, 1991. He missed over 10 km in classic style and over 25 km the following day in the Canadian Silver Star 56th and 63rd clearly the points.

Three months later he started for Australia at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . After a weak 54th place over 30 km, he finished 37th in the individual over 10 km. In the following pursuit over 25 km he lost two places and came in 39th. He achieved his best result with 34th place in the final 50 km race.

In December 1992 and January 1993 Evans started again in the World Cup, but again clearly missed the top positions in Ramsau am Dachstein , in Val di Fiemme and Ulrichen and thus remained without a World Cup point success. Despite this failure, he started at the next Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Swedish Falun . He achieved his best result in the first race over 30 km with 48th place.

After further starts in the World Cup, in which Evans remained without a point win as before, he also started for Australia at the 1994 Winter Olympics . He again achieved his best result in the final race over 50 km and crossed the finish line in 47th place. In August 1994 and August 1995 Evans started in FIS races in his native Australia and celebrated three third places in addition to a win. Another year later he won the Cross-Country Continental Cup in Perisher Valley .

However, Evans did not have the international breakthrough in the World Cup in winter 1996/97. Only in the Continental Cup he celebrated another point success in Hudiksvall . At the following Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 in Trondheim , Norway , he achieved his best result with 36th place over 10 km in classic style. In the summer Evans won another FIS race in Falls Creek, Australia .

In January 1998 he achieved his best individual World Cup result in his career with rank 37 in Ramsau. However, this was again not enough for a World Cup point. With the start at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano in 1998 , he started for the third time at the Olympics. However, he could not run to the front positions in this last Olympic participation. With a start at the World Cup in Falun on March 11, 1998, Evans started for the last time on an international level.

In August 2002 Evans started again in the Continental Cup and reached two fifth places in Perisher Valley. In 2007 he started again and finished second over 10 km in the same place.
