Australia took part in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin with a delegation of 33 athletes. 32 of them took part in the competitions. There were four female athletes in attendance for the country. The standard bearer was the track cyclist Dunc Gray .
Australia was one of the few participants in the Winter Games to have been represented at all of the Olympic Games since Athens in 1896 . Up to the 1936 Winter Olympics, the Australian team had 14 Olympic victories. In swimming (7), athletics (3), rowing (2), cycling (1) and rugby (1).
